cow parade!

This post is a bit belated, but I was waiting for the photos before posting...
We had an office outing on 1 Oct to St Cergue to see the annual cow event. Basically the farmers bring the cows down from a higher altitude to lower land to graze around this time each year as the weather turns cold. And they celebrate the event by dressing up the cows (with cow bells and flowers) and having a small fair. It attracts quite a lot of people.
Unfortunately, it rained this year.. so we walked in the rain to see the cows march past us... at one point we were so cold, n saw a small shed and thought we could hide in it. and guess what the shed turned out to be? a garbage collection centre! some people still went in to get shelter from the rain. it didn't smell that bad.
what did smell bad was what the cows left behind as they walked by - yes, cow dung! what an obstacle course! and the rain washed the dung such that the roads became yellow... and stinky... eeks... the kids had lots of fun though. My boss' kid kept trying to jump onto every pile of dung! :P
It was quite an interesting experience though. Enjoy the pictures!

1 Comments:
Yellow, stinky roads sound gross but it must have been nice to witness such an event.
