my first long-drawn drafting session

yes, finally had the chance to sit thru a long-drawn ASEAN meeting to draft a non-paper on human rights reform. it's just as they said, people arguing over one word, or even a comma... and the non-paper was just 5 pages long... meeting went on until 8.15pm! and we're meeting again tomorrow for another session cos we couldn't agree on some points... but strangely, i quite enjoyed the whole exercise. quite exciting, especially cos i was also one of those arguing over how to phrase a certain sentence, etc... hmmm... but i hear that 8.15pm is not that bad. some meetings run on til 2am! the whole point is to wear people out until they just get frustrated and give in.. so at the end of the day, it's a question of who has the best stamina...

My...yes, I've heard that these things happen esp when it comes to the written word. But unfortunately, oftentimes all the editing by people/nations having different 'areas' to 'protect' eventually dilutes the meaning of the paper and thus some issues are left unresolved.
